Biomechanics/Orthotics
Biomehanical assessment looks at the alignment and function of the feet during standing and walking/running. Problems with the function of the feet can ultimately transmit stress to other body parts leading to knee, hip and low back pain. This is especially bad during sports involving running, when the ill effects become magnified.
In podiatry, specialist insoles called orthotics are used in conjunction with specific exercises to correct the misalignments. They are prescribed after a clinical examination and do more than just relieve sore feet.
If you think you would benefit from orthotics, contact Six Ways Clinic for a foot and leg assessment. The examination takes into account shoes, activities and foot type.
Nail Surgery
This is performed under local anaesthetic and may involve partial or total nail removal (avulsion) for the long term treatment of ingrown toe nail plates or very thickened nails that are giving rise to painful symptoms.
